About Us

Our Partners

We don’t walk this path alone. Healthy Kids Inc. collaborates closely with like-minded partners across the state. Together, we work towards a common goal of creating a healthier, more sustainable food ecosystem for all. Its most impactful partnership is with its sister organization, Project Healthy Kids. Project Healthy Kids is a 501-c3 created in 2017 to further support this collective mission and create wrap-around services and support to make this work even more impactful. Through Project Healthy Kids many other partners are supporting this work including KEYS 4 Healthy Kids, The Benedum Foundation, the Pallottine Foundation, WV Food & Farm Coalition, American Heart Association, Milan Puskar Foundation, Coalfield Development, the Mon County Center, Mountwest Culinary Center, and many many others.

Our Mission as a Social Enterprise

Healthy Kids Inc. operates as a social enterprise—a for-profit organization with a nonprofit mission.  As a social enterprise, we have the unique ability to merge our business experience with social impact in our communities. That combined experience helps us to create sustainable projects that can live on for many years to come in communities. It also means that we put people, communities, and health FIRST.

Building a Local Food System

Crafting thousands of from-scratch meals each day has given us a profound connection with both the miracles and the hurdles of the local food system.  Over the past three years, we’ve seen firsthand how dependent our food system is on global agriculture—and we are no exception. Yet, we’ve also witnessed the incredible potential and desire of local farmers and our own lands to serve their communities.

Our team of chefs and farmers is passionate about bringing the food system home. By working closely with local growers, we’re finding innovative ways to overcome sourcing challenges while expanding the capacity of local farmers to support our state in even greater ways. This is more than a mission for us; it’s our promise to future generations to build a regional food system that heals our bodies and strengthens communities.
